Another mission, another food drive! Mission Never Impossible
Following the high protein pancakes that I made and had for myself, later in the day I chose to prepare a few hot dinner packs for the hungry in a street within my radius.
It included the moong sprouts and green peas. I tossed them about in a wok in which a tbsp. of oil/ghee has been drizzled in. A tsp. of cumin seeds go in, a bit of crushed garlic and finely shredded ginger. A finely chopped onion does its trick to give the rice its sweetness. A handful of sprouts and peas go in with a tsp. of pepper and salt to taste keeping in mind that the cooked rice is going to be added in soon.
The cooked rice is later merged into this green mix of cooked sprouts and peas. Check for seasoning and adjust accordingly. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro if required. They were all neatly packed along with a bit of lemon pickle courtesy one of my friends who gave me this huge jar as she had loads at home.
As usual picked up a friend and met the others at the park close to where these homeless and hungry souls are seated and started our distribution.
