Broccoli Sambhar
Cauliflower and Broccoli are two veggies that capture my attention as far as their shape is concerned...I am intrigued by the natural manner in which it grows and takes a flowery shape. I am always puzzled by the way nature rules and rocks! It definitely isn't a creation of God...
I am so elated that these veggies have started pouring in abundance at our greengrocer's and is no longer something unique that one has to source from somewhere and pay through one's A... for that! And whenever I do see them, it goes right into my jute bag. Broccoli was one of those rare veggies(at least where we live) that one would just come across while flipping through a magazine or channel surfing through a few Food Channels...
My take on this recipe is similar to the sambhar I did with Zucchini (again a once upon a time "rare veggie") sometime back. The link is provided here http://potsnpans-peanuts.blogspot.in/2012/06/sambhar-with-zucchini.html
But I did add the Malabar Vellarikya which is a favourite with our family and goes very well with any sambhar. So those are the two heroes that went into this sambhar. No carrots, no drumsticks in this but...Yeah got a new set of readers to my blog!!! Thanks for those messages and inputs. Will try to incorporate some of the requested recipes as time permits.
The marbled effect to my idlis will remain a SECRET but it really isn't difficult at all-Just common sense to marble a steamed idli/lentil cake :)
So do follow the link given above for the same recipe with florets of broccoli and Malabar Vellarikya (a type of cucumber used a lot in South Indian cooking-both Kerala and Tamil Nadu)
