Chennai Food Express- Breakfast @Domestic Airport, Chennai

We had an early morning flight to catch. We were heading to the capital from where we would do a road trip close to four hours to visit our older one in one of the most prestigious institutes in India. This was the husband's second and my first time there.

I was all excited and anxious at the same time as the younger fellow had also turned up home and decided not to join us for this journey as it was his ten day break and he wanted to spend time with his buddies and peers.

So that was the anxiety, as leaving him behind always brings a lump in my throat. He still relishes his tall glass of milk that he and I know that I make it the right way for him. It was also raining cats and dogs and that was a deterring factor in many ways. There was a lot undone before the husband and I left him behind to meet our older one. I did manage to cook some stuff for him and stashed it in the fridge but with all the deadlines that I kept for myself-things apparently got procrastinated. Finally, with almost everything settled and feeling in groove, the moment we got into the taxi, I was relaxed.

We managed to get to the airport early and then it was a mad search for a good place to have a healthy breakfast. All around the airport one finds small shady places selling weird or stale/unhealthy sandwiches or muffins, Maggi-a dehydrated food which is later re-hydrated calling itself noodles :( and other expensive stuff not worth mentioning.

During this search, we came across this huge hoarding which read Chennai Food Express. We almost missed the entrance as we thought it was an ad for some joint that was opening shortly...But boy were we glad that we walked all the way to that misleading entrance.
And this is where we caught our lovely breakfast prior to catching our flight. Loved the ambiance and it filled in no time with all the early morning travellers. I am glad that we located it at the right time as both of us had to have our medicines after food and we were getting a bit cranky by then. The fact that that we occupied our seats then, assured us a table to stretch our legs and our breakfast time.
Enjoyed the food, I do not remember what the bill amount tallied up to, but neither of us were disappointed. I had the breakfast item that is shown in the pic-Uppuma. The husband had a dosa and a vada or was it a plate of idlis and a vada...I have no clue. Vadas, I do remember as I couldn't have mine and wrapped it in a tissue to have later.

I am glad I did that, because it stayed until it was relished by my older one hours after I bought it. He wished I had got him some more.

I couldn't click too many pics as it was streaming in with people. These pics are also a bit hazy as they were clicks from the cell phone and I am very bad with certain focuses with that.

One can occasionally see a pigeon or two flying in these so called closed spaces in the airport to catch a crumb or two and I did happen to see a merry one roaming around.
This place has so many colourful things and posters to click. I am sure to update this the next time I visit. These were the clicks I managed to take that morning.
