Flaky Pastry
I had bought some ready-to fry spring roll pastry the other day from the supermarket but was in no mood to fry them. Did wonder what I could do with them, did consult a few expert chefs and many came up with lovely ideas. I've tried to incorporate what advice they all gave and put in my own as well and came up with this which tasted pretty good and crisp.
This may not be the best recipe you could find but it's worth a try |
Line the baking tray with the spring roll pastry, brush each layer of spring roll pastry when placed with some butter. Place the filling in each layer, shred some cheese over it, lay more pastry over the previous layer and keep alternating between the filling, shredded cheese and the spring roll pastry. On the top most layer I added some egg wash and also added a tbsp of warm olive oil infused with some rosemary-garlic. Bake the dish for about half an hour or until crisp.
