Poppat Jamal & Sons Year End Sales

Bakeware
That December feeling, the chill in the air, The Margazhi(music season) time and all that jazz reminds me that 2016 is almost bidding goodbye. I pulled out the Christmas tree from a loft above which I couldn't put up last year owing to the floods in Chennai and the family not being in town back then. For me there is no religious sentiments attached...it's an inexplicable feeling that just happens every year end.

Since 2011, Christmas time is a grim reminder that I lost my father, my bestest Santa who bought me anything that I had asked for. He never ever said "No" to me and always considered my requests in his most subtle ways.

There has not been a closure for me to my Pa's passing as he fell ill and was admitted soon after, succumbed to his Pneumonia and was brought home in a casket as an embalmed corpse from the country where he worked until his last breath. I haven't said my goodbyes to him, he knows that and so do I...I live with those phantoms and no matter how much I try, I am unable to erase his beautiful and endearing face. I see him in my complexion, in my curls, my big ears, my structure and my love for food.
Spatulas, Cupcake liners, Moulds etc.
Every December, despite all the outlandish language I try to portray in my recipes, blogs and instagram feeds, I do feel very lonely, homesick and nostalgic and miss my childhood a great deal. The husband knows me only too well...he's been the next bestest Santa since Pa's passing. He emulates my father in those ways...Pa never pampered me as we were four siblings and we won his love on equal terms. So this trip to Poppat and Jamal was one of those feeling my pulse moment and the husband's way of pampering me.

Now, that my friend is "Retail Therapy". Almost every year I come across the advertisement of the sales at Poppat and Jamal but I always miss it or forget about it. This time I had been tom-tomming about this at home ...that I had to make my way and explore the place before the whole of Chennai thinks on a similar plane and guess what? Well now that they have various outlets scattered all over Chennai, I guess a part of Chennai was at the outlet that I visited.
Mason Jars
Both the husband and I carefully picked only the things that I craved for and those that pleaded with me like a Tiramisu "Pick me up" please. Moreover with all the ugliness and foolishness happening with regard to this demonetisation, we were careful not to go overboard with our shopping.

The place is amazing! Please do not go there with your toddlers especially those who are naughty and restless! Leave them behind at home with a trusted soul so that you can be at peace as most of the items on display are fragile! you wouldn't want to risk shattering anything especially at a horrible "cash crunch" time like this even if you came out shopping after breaking your kiddo's piggy bank and gathering all the notes and coins that he/she was gifted on various occasions!
Oil Dispensers
There's a humungous variety out there. I have just clicked a part of the shop where I carefully tiptoed  and manoeuvred among all those ladies (shoppers) who would stare and glare perhaps if you happened to just check out the design or feel the texture of the crockery and cutlery that they have chosen in their carts. Like I said it is a year end feeling!!! No dearth for shoppers though.

Lots of nice discounts are available on each of the items so the shop becomes a beautiful haven for a couple of hours that one could get lost into.
Let's say you wanted to buy something to butter up the MIL, it's there; a romantic and sizzling evening with the loved one-wonderful cast iron sizzler platters are on display with their wooden base; A few of you macho, hunky chaps want to impress the women with your BBQ ing while flexing your arms such that your muscles stay uptight as you turn the meat, the grills and all its accompaniments are there; You want to get your stock of Christmas/New year/Pongal/ Any Occasion Gift item...it's there my friend!
Fancy Fruit/Chocolate or Gift Platters
I was also elated to see a few coffee percolators (forgot to click the picture) The ones I have at home were bought from our travels. It's nice that all this is easily available here at PJ and sons.
Even if you don't have a shopping list, just go over and browse through to get ideas or even steal ideas for the next kitty party, return gifts or bakers' meet-up.
Shot Glasses
A good shot of adrenalin and dopamine rush as I ogle at these babies here! Happy hormones getting drunk on these sights and clinks!
I guess many things can be bought and stocked as the glassware, cookware and bake ware for the hotels or home stays.
Copper Ware

I found this picture above very interesting-a two in one dish, chips at the bottom and sauce in that small plate attached above it. I literally imagined dipping a few French fries in some sauce #slurp
A Japanese Kid on The Block (I have to go back and get that one on the right) Not sure if they are sold individually???

Porcelain Enamelled Vessels

                                                            The bamboo skewers
A few antique kind of pieces-great food props-Buy them if you like them, everything comes with discounts!!!

An impromptu date that turned out so refreshing for us and am glad that I could furnish you with a glimpse of this sale. It is on till the end of this month.

Would I go there again? Yes, of course! if somebody wanted a friend to accompany them, I certainly would!
Thanks Santa Husband for all the lovely things you bought me. I love my haul...you spoil me rotten with your love and patience!

PS:- DISCLAIMER- I have no affiliation nor am I in any way related/connected to them. I am not promoting any brand or anything other than some retail therapy and my lovely outing with the husband.
