Sticky & Spicy Cocktail Sausages
You may use smoked and flavoured cocktail sausages for this recipe. Ensure that the store-bought sausages have a nice flavour so that the ensemble you are about to create in this dish turns out real appetising.
Initially, I decided only on the sausages in this sticky sauce but then I always love my veggies and other crunch to tag along. Sautéed the sausages in a sauce pan in a little bit of oil. Do not deep fry! If preparing for your children go right ahead and deep fry!
Once those sausages are extracted from the sauce pan, into the same pan throw in the cherry tomatoes and florets of broccoli or other veggies of choice like coloured bell peppers etc.
The prepared sauce was a very Asian inspired one and I stuck to whatever I had at hand-A tsp. of soy sauce, a tsp. of chilly vinegar, chilly flakes, a tad bit of sweet and sour tomato sauce, an eighth of a spoon of crushed ginger and a tbsp. of honey garlic (I had recently purchased a bottle of honey which was garlic infused) this honey enables the stickiness in the sauce. Whisk all this together along with salt and pepper keeping in mind the sausages already have salt in it. If you have balsamic vinegar add that as well, I didn't! Warm this sauce a bit in a smaller sauce pan and drizzle this over the veggies and the sausages.
Ensure that all the veggies and sausages are coated with the sauce and then you may skewer them on toothpicks or through the kebab bamboo skewers.
Present them in any which way you want ensuring that there is a nice medley in crunch and appearance. Sprinkle sesame seeds/finely chopped spring onions over the presentation for a nice Asian look. Enjoy!
