Chocolate Bubble Wraps-used as decorations/collars over cakes

Stuck at home owing to the heavy down pour and the overcast skies?... with cyclonic warnings preventing you from venturing out to run your personal errands or things you would like to do with the family on a Sunday...I am talking about the Southern part of India where we are...

I had some left over chocolate-Compound Dark Chocolate after yesterday's kids' play moulding chocolate. I am no expert here but I do watch and learn stuff. I am a very keen observer and love to absorb in anything that seems appealing to me.

Melted chocolate poured over bubble tops/bubble wraps have been doing the rounds for quite some time and I had always wanted to play with it. So whenever you are out of ideas to give a nice collar to your cakes, you can make such honeycomb like barks and  stick it against the ganached bake. It would look nice and rustic.

They can also be used as chocolate decorations over your bakes stuck into the butter cream frosting. Looks exotic and chic in its own way. Will upload a picture herewith once I do the same.

Until then enjoy these melted chocolate smeared over cleaned and very lightly oiled bubble wrap. Spread them out evenly. The chocolate should be chopped finely and placed in a bowl and melted over a double boiler or into your microwave with a 30 sec intervals/spurts. Do not leave it unattended, they can burn if the heat is to high. If it is over a double boiler ensure that the vessel or bowl does not touch the direct heat of the water. It starts to melt with the surrounding heat against the vessel.

Once melted and still warm, you can add in some more shaved chocolate into that chocolaty liquid and leave it outside stirring through. With the heat of the previously melted chocolate the fresh chocolate will easily disintegrate and melt. If you feel that at any point your chocolate hasn't melted smoothly, stick it back into the microwave and give it another ten seconds or twenty keeping a vigil over it.

Once poured and levelled neatly, stick it into the fridge to harden.
Once hardened, you will see how easy it is to peel off. It may break, try to do it very gently and patiently.
You can break them in any manner you please and decorate them as the collar of your cakes making it seem like a fortress!

DISCLAIMER :- I do know if the plastic bubble wrap that has been used here may be FDA friendly...so please use the bubble wraps that are FDA friendly if you are very particular. For me this was a nice experiment and a fun activity that has now been struck off my "to do" list.
