Moonrakers

Another weekend and the son is home with his new demands and commands which invariably always revolves around food. This time his urge was to have huge prawns. My brain began its usual mental scroll and search and finally I gave up as I was spoiled for choices-too many to list out, too many to try out and the million dollar doubt whether he would accompany us for a dine in. And guess what he did...
Without a second thought, I just started frantically texting one of my foodie friends for his suggestion. I trust two souls blindly when it comes to zeroing in on any place to have grub with the family, one is KG's and the other is S and his family's. Both of them to a large extend know my pulse and tastes. They also eat out and are precise with the directions when I do inquire with them or list out other choices just in case my family is not happy.
This time I did not want to trouble KG as I felt he had this long list of stuff lined out for the day( from the status on his Facebook wall)with his wife so I knew S was sort of free to answer my texts.
He suggested a couple of places of which this sounded the most apt for the moment to satiate my son's urge. My little imp was dressed to kill in a lovely brick red shirt. It was my older one's, when he outgrew it we passed it on to the younger one to sport. Oh boy! What a charmer, he reminded me of my husband two decades ago! Such a dasher! The moment my husband saw him in that, he took out some of his old baby yellows and other colours that he thought would suit our baby imp from the cupboard that stocks his old shirts.

So S suggested "Moonrakers" and Moonrakers it was! We are so happy that we grabbed at that first choice. It made a lot of sense. The jovial, light eyed Jaffar Bhai attended to us. He was diligently helping us out as we were confused what more to add on to the order. He lit our table with his smile and his effervescence that made the entire menu seem simple to scan almost like a pocket diary...Ok that is exagggggggggggeration with multiple G's in them!!!
This wheel was the partition between us and the aisle.
The name of the place as was seen on the menu card.
The catch of the day I guess! This was a display to an adjoining table. They selected one of these fish and got it readied to their table in the course of their meal. Jaffar Bhai posed for me with this tray when he noticed that I was on this mad photo clicking spree. He even asked me if I got the shot I wanted. For all that and more kindness from his side ,we did leave a nice tip for him bigger than what we normally give the chaps attending to us anywhere.
It's a new place located at Anderson Road, Nungumbakkam, Chennai. I understand it is a place that perhaps opened a month or two ago.
                                                             Tawa Calamari
The Jumbo Tiger Prawns-the ones that my son savoured to the core! Lovely taste. the garnishes could have been done finer and neater but what the hell, the hero of the dish proved itself and was extremely tasty!

Most of the dishes had loads of garlic in them which we love and do include in our home cooking as well!
                                               Chicken Fried Rice
Masala Fried Fish (Red Snapper)

After having the prawns, my son wanted to try out their fish. Jaffar Bhai suggested this. As I am allergic to all the fish, I could only watch my son's expressions with all his Ooohs and Aaahs enjoying the taste! A few dishes as they were massive in quantity, we had them boxed and brought them back home.

I had ordered a prawn spaghetti and my husband had ordered a mixed sea food spaghetti. Jaffar Bhai was extremely careful even while packing as I had alerted earlier on that I am allergic to fish and none of the orders should get confused or mixed. When he boxed mine, he did write over that as well the name of my dish. it brought a huge smile to my face when I got back home and unwrapped the covers.
It does look pathetic and lonely doesn't it? I believe it is kept in the basin for the customers to choose and then they would cook it for them.
The sea world painted on the walls all over.
The entry and the exit. Loved the experience, Value for the money spent. Got the kind of service we wanted and there surely will be an encore as the food truly beckons and so does Jaffar's smile.

Our family enjoyed the experience to the core! Amen!
