In my blender, I crushed the tea leaves from those bags(seen in the picture) to almost dust consistency. I took around fifteen tea bags.Later, in a heavy bottom pan, took half a cup of milk and stirred it slowly over the fire and threw in the tea dust. I did whisk up two egg yolks earlier in a separate bowl. As the milk kept boiling slowly, I added those yolks as well into the hot mixture continuosuly stirring in a rotatory manner with my whisker. It starts to thicken whereby you add half a cup of cream. It thickens further. Then take it off the stove, let it cool, then I added some ready to make whipping cream( I used Blue Bird brand of whipping cream and followd the instructions on it to whip the cream) to the mixture along with icing sugar to add the sweetness to your typical icecream.
Poured this mixture into a container and placed it in the freezer. After half an hour, I took it out and ran a ladle through it. Kept doing so after every half an hour for around four or five times, till I felt it resembled my version of icecream. As the hours proceed, say around five hrs on...it would be quite thick, run your ladle through it again, scoop it out with the help of your icecream scooper and that's it, I guess you could add any nuts, any other flavour of tea, or any fruit to enhance the taste. But for me, the curiosity of green tea was irresistable! |
